Messaging giant WhatsApp is preparing to roll out a new feature designed to enhance user interactions. The platform is currently testing a double-tap reaction feature for its Android beta version.
According to WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is introducing an update similar to those on Instagram and Facebook Messenger. This new feature will allow users to quickly react to messages with a default heart emoji by double-tapping, eliminating the need to access the reaction tray. The feature aims to streamline the reaction process, making conversations more dynamic. However, it is still in development and not yet available to beta testers.
Initially, users will only be able to react with a heart emoji through double-tapping. However, they can still access the full range of reaction options from the reaction tray, offering greater flexibility to express a variety of emotions.
The double-tap reaction feature is still in development and is expected to be made available to a broader user base in the coming months. It remains to be seen if WhatsApp will also introduce this feature for its iOS platform.
In the meantime, Meta, the owner of WhatsApp, is enhancing its AI assistant, Meta AI, with a global expansion and a suite of new creative features. This update integrates AI capabilities into WhatsApp.
Meta AI has been launched in seven new countries, including Argentina, Chile, and Colombia, increasing its reach to a total of 22 countries. Users can now access Meta AI on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, and interact with it in a broader range of languages such as French, German, Hindi, and Spanish, with more languages being added soon.
